Deon's Journey: From Adventure to Business Innovator
DEON, on the other hand, took the scenic route through life — and by scenic, we mean deserts, airstrips, and adventure. After studying, he returned to the army for a few more years (because why not add adventure to discipline?). He later joined an aviation company, managing stations in Libya, Afghanistan, and Uganda — places where “business turbulence” had an entirely different meaning.
Deon went on to earn a Master's in Organisational Leadership, because someone had to balance Anton’s calculator with some leadership theory. He then ventured into the clothing industry, creating a range for hunters, outdoorsmen, and corporates — comfortable, rugged, and stylish. Unfortunately, a few accounting miscalculations meant that while the clothes fit perfectly, the margins didn’t. But every stumble is a stepping stone — and this one shaped his belief that business tools should speak human, not accountant.
Today, Deon insists that AIVOR stays simple, friendly, and useful — avoiding the sleep-inducing jargon that makes most business owners run for another cup of coffee. Together, Anton and Deon built AIVOR on a foundation of real-world experience, curiosity, and just enough humour to remind us all that business, like life, should be taken seriously… but not too seriously.
